summer 2008

just a outline of my summer. this is prly gonna be long,so daniel, you can stop reading now.

i went to kalahari w/ daniel, jessica, anna, lily, lulu, rensy, takuo, and nobuo. that was a lot of fun. then we went on to the silver lake sand dunes w/ takuo, nobuo, and one of my school friends. that was alright. hmm, there was thunderbay which was a lot of fun, and we got a lot of community service done, and i felt i grew a lot closer to God w/ the devos and everything. a week later i went to a two week camp at msu. it was called mst (math, science, and technology). there i took two two hour classes a day, physiology and mechanical engineering, and an hour and a half of soccer. there were 8 classes i think, originally 13, but some closed. well, im not too sure on the number of classes and all. whatever. not a big deal. both my classes taught me a lot and were actually fun, so that was cool. the soccer helped a lot, as i was taught by a high school soccer coach. the kids were pretty bad at soccer, but its okay.

to be honest, i wasnt expecting much out of it. and the first day there, i was just outside by myself for the whole free time. but by the second day i started hanging out w/ a kid named jeff. and he was a really cool guy. he was quiet, but he was funny, smart and nice. we eventually ate at every mealtime and spent every freetime together. and midway through the first week i started doing the same w/ a girl named gabbie. us three grew really close to each other, just talking and hanging out from 7am-10pm everyday minus the 6ish hours for the whole two weeks. it was pretty hard to say goodbye, but i before i settled down back home, about three days upon getting home, i left for cali for a week to visit my uncle and grandparents. that was pretty fun, too. we got home and three days later we left for mackinac island w/ daniel's family. that was pretty fun.

then the day after we got home i had soccer tryouts. i got owned the first day. we started off by running for an hour and ten minutes straight and doing ladders, down ups, shuffling, hurdles, running backwards, and some weaving things. then we scrimmaged. and for the last half hour of our lovely three hour tryouts we sprinted across the soccer field, with timed trials. if not everyone made it, we had to do it again. 10 successful rounds. pushups and situps randomly inbetween. the next three days of tryouts were just stations where we worked on individual skill, and then scrimmages. i made the freshman soccer team as second to last. i still made it, and i start,but i barely made it, and its prly cause 7 fr made jv. now since aug 18 i have soccer five days a week. and since before that i had to go to 9 hr a day band. but i only went to the full secession once cause i missed a lot for soccer. that's over, only wed 4-something is band. but i have a game tomoroow, so i wont be doing that. our team won 3-0, 3-0, 2-0, 3-1, and just lost 3-2 today. but our forwards played bad in every single one of our games, and i think we're gonna be sweet. but of course, we've played three bad teams, brighton, and just lost to canton today. but we've played better than all the teams so far. plymouth tomorrow.

joke of the day. i found it on a yogurt thing, so i cant take any credit for it. okay.

thought you guys might like it, so i decided to share it with you guys.

thought i would post again. finally got something fun to talk about. my saturday was pretty fun.

kay, so i have an ar project on advertising. we've had a couple individual projects on advertising, and we now have a group project. hmmm..  this might not be as amusing to you guys as it is to me because you guys dont really know these kids. whatever. so on monday we agreed to get together saturday at 3:00. later last week we were saying 2:00 and 2:30, because we have a lot to do, and with emily in our group, she would make us work until we finished or until we collapsed and died. of course, we were joking. but on saturday at 1, john called me to ask what time we finally decided on. we said 2:30, and i said that we would blame megh if we got there late and if it was actually 3:00.

2:30, i remember i was supposed to be there. so i hurriedly get the directory and find the address. i run out with my folder, an umbrella, a visor, and sunglasses, because part of the group project is a commercial. our group was called tropical sun, so i figured it would be good those fit the theme. since emily's neighborhood is connected to mine through the back, i thought that i should be able to walk there. ive been to her house before, and it was about a quarter mile away.

2:50. on the phone with emily getting a ride to her house. yeah, i got lost. when i got into the car, john was there. apparently he just got there when i called emily and came along to pick me up. shannon was getting there at three, and megh, we didnt know. we got to emily's house and settled down. we watched emily's sister's commercials and shannon got there at the end. then we just started writing all the commercials. we got five, even though we only needed 3. well, three products advertised. mrs. clise said the alternative is one really really good commercial.

lauren got there at like 4:30, even though she was supposed to get there at 4:00. but its okay, because lauren isnt in our group, or in our class, but she was still filming us. so that was nice of her. megh got there at like five, and we had just about finished all the scripts and edited them. ooh and i made the logo, which i stole from a sun andrew drew in some drawing game years back. i dont think he remembers it. since megh got there late and didnt help much, we made him play a dumb guy in the commercials. in the first one, tropical sun beach balls were better because unlike the other beach balls, they didnt hurt his wrists and give him bruises.

we started filming, but megh and john would say "oh you messed up" or something dumb like that when we could have edited a minor mistake out. shannon and emily had laughing problems, and i messed us up a couple times. we probably had an average of six takes for every commercial. one we had i think nine. such things included: messed up lines, john or megh throwing in an unscripted punch line to make us laugh, laughing, and a "bee biting" megh in the ear. (i think mosquito).

then we made our tshirts that we didnt have to do, but emily went out to buy them to look cool for our presentation on the 19th. then pizza. john, emily, and lauren were editing the commercials and putting it all together on emily's sweet apple computer. its really cool and super easy to do...anything. me and megh were on the other computer and coloring our tshirts. shannon was listening to the ipod and coloring the tshirts. then we watched it and took pictures of ourselves...with emily's computer. we put them in the credits. haha, i threw a ball at megh as it was taking the picture, so megh's halfway out of the picture and bent over. but we're still using it.

and started the fronts of our tshirts, which we did whatever we wanted to do, and did not match like the back. we were done when emily went to put hers on...and found that she was drawing on the front of john's (we wrote our names on the back). so now john's has hearts on the front and a picture of a coconut tree, and emily's says "pacific paradise with me. yay party" on the front with sloppy handwriting. finally at 9:00 we started to play wii, listen to music, play foosball (sp?), and just hang out. then we all left around 9:30 after watching the commercials again.

finally, i was gonna walk home when they said i was gonna get lost again, which was prly true, and they were abou to take me home. then i got a phone call. i didnt call home the whole time, my phone ran out of batteries, and no one knew who's house i was going to. i wonder how they called emily's house, though. so that was my saturday. and congrats if you read through it all.

oh yeah, and today i found out that my name was called at msu to get an award for scoring high on the act and sat. whoops. 5 middle schoolers in northville got it, 4 from meads. yeah, im cool.

i was going to post about something important, but i forgot. whatever. here's a joke i heard.
